On 23 August 2023, the lander Vikram with the lunar rover Pragyan of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on 14 July 2023, completed the first soft landing in the polar region of the Moon. This makes India the fourth country in the world whose spacecraft has landed on the surface of Earth's natural satellite.
