Every annual WTISD event is dedicated to a new trendsetting activity within the global ICT industry. This time World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2022 is focused on “Digital Technologies for the Elderly and Healthy Aging”. In 2022, WTISD is held with the aim of raising awareness of the significance of information and communication technologies in ensuring a healthier aging, as well as of the opportunities that they open for the economic, social and political progress for everyone, including the elderly, by creating a favourable digital environment.

“Equitable access to digital technologies isn’t just a moral responsibility, it’s essential for global prosperity and sustainability,” says Houlin Zhao, ITU Secretary-General.

“As a pivotal factor in ensuring social involvement of the elderly, it is reliable telecom services that play a key role today,” says Ksenia Drozdova, Director General of Intersputnik IOSC. “Satellite communications routinely provide access to modern digital technologies in remote and hard-to-reach communities around the globe, thus facilitating sustainable development across all age groups of the population.”

We at Intersputnik IOSC would like to share this truly red-letter day with both our deeply appreciated colleagues and the multinational team of the International Telecommunication Union. Looking forward for future cooperation, we send all of you our congratulations and very best wishes on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
