This event, as a part of GSOA Regional Dilogues, was organized specifically for the communication administrations affiliated with the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC), which is one of the six principal regional telecommunication organisations. The panel discussion centred around key topics such as safeguarding critical satellite services, fostering innovation, and promoting the development of future space services. Intersputnik was represented in the Panel by Andrey Kirillovich, Director of Strategy, Marketing, and Business Development. Other speakers included representatives of leading global satellite operators: Viasat, Eutelsat Group, Amazon and Echostar.

Andrey Kirillovich emphasized the critical need to allocate exclusive frequency bands for satellites, ensuring their smooth functioning without disruption from other services. Satellite technologies are crucial in providing modern ICT services to residents of remote regions with underdeveloped infrastructure. The RCC region, known for its countries with expansive territories, has a high demand for satellite networks. This need arises from the presence of distant industrial and social infrastructures, the disparate spread of population in these large areas, and the intricate geographical terrains they include. Having access to the required frequency spectrum for operating relevant satellite services is fundamental for connecting the unconnected and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Andrey Kirillovich also pointed out the prospects of satellite technologies as an integral part of the 5G ecosystem and their integration with contemporary services within 5G networks, primarily with cloud.

As an international intergovernmental organization, Intersputnik acknowledges its pivotal role in aiding key UN and ITU initiatives focused on connecting those currently without access. Consequently, the Organization's experts are dedicated to consistently tracking and influencing the evolving trends in the industry. Additionally, they are committed to ensuring that the global satellite sector is equipped with essential resources, with a particular emphasis on securing the orbital and frequency spectrum.
